German Games NightGermany is renowned for its passion for Board Games and you are invited to enjoy them at the Edelweiss Club! The games are German editions, and German will be spoken, giving you an excellent chance to use or practice your German!
Your host has a small collection of games; suggestions for other titles to play are welcome. ![]() Die Siedler von Catan-Deutschland Edition The classic Siedler von Catan has been revised with this simpler version to commemorate 60 years of the Bundesrepublik and 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall. This game for 3-4 player features a beautifully painted map of Germany, and your objective is to best settle the country by building your city halls, German landmarks, the largest army and the longest trade route. Auf Achse This classic truck-driving game (Spiel des Jahres 1987) was lovingly reissued by Schmidt Spiele in 2007 featuring an updated map of a unified Germany and its neighbours and improved board graphics and game play. Das Große GEO Quiz The publishers of GEO magazine have taken the magazine's themes and put them into an entertaining trivia game. The questions will teach players about people, history, geography, science and nature. All questions are multiple-choice, with answers explained--a great way to practice speaking German! Rules in English & German Zug um Zug-Märklin Edition This variation on the original "Ticket to Ride" game (Spiel des Jahres 2004) features a map of Germany! Anno Domini This game features historical events which players must put into an event chain in chronological order. The first player to be rid of all their cards, by knowing, or bluffing, is the winner! This popular game has spawned nearly 20 editions on various subjects; the Deutschland edition is the first available to play at German Games Night, with more categories to come. This intriguing game incorporates distinctive German roadside graphics and a different way of thinking about the German landscape, and can be played in varying levels of difficulty.
